RED – Remember, Educate, Dedicate -is an initiative that focuses on remembrance and healing of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) through the unique eye of our Nunavut artists.  Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council is calling on Nunavut artists to join RED and create meaningful pieces to honour Nunavut Inuit we’ve lost to MMIWG.

The artwork can be written, sung, sculpted, painted, drawn, sewn, physical or digital. Combinations and multi-media art are also accepted. The art be easily transported, displayed, and made to last.

Interested artists can provide their artwork and a completed submission form to Qulliit by Friday, March 29, 2024. A panel made of Qulliit council members will then select 10 pieces and selected artists will receive a $500 compensation for their work.

The goal is to create a permanent exhibit of works in Nunavut, both in digital and physical spaces. In doing so, Qulliit aims to create safe spaces for awareness, dialogue, and healing, while empowering Nunavut’s women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people to speak out against gender-based violence.

To fill a submission form, go to https://www.qnsw.ca/red or write to projects@qnsw.ca.
