Take Back the Night is an international rally and march that is organized in local communities with the purpose of unifying women, men, and children in an awareness of violence against women, children and families. The event is a collaboration of community and other interested persons who are ready to take a stand against violence and make our communities safe for everyone. more
“One such priority is to complete a Nunavut Family Violence Strategy by the end of this calendar year, and it is a goal to which the minister of Health and Social Services and I are fully committed,” Aariak said in the news release.
We are proud to note that over the course of the year, more women are taking the initiative to become more involved in their communities and local governments. We have seen more women moving into high level political positions and positions of authority and we could not be more proud of the role we play in helping women become empowered to find their way in life. We believe in the power of leadership – whether you are an elder that teaches young girls to sew, a student who helps out with the school’s breakfast program, or the Premier of Nunavut leading Canada’s newest territory – you can make a difference!
