The Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council was established under the Status of Women Council Act of Nunavut on April 1, 1999 and commenced operations April 1, 2001. The purpose of the Council is to advance the goal of equal participation of women in society and promote changes in social, legal and economic structures to that end.
About the Council

The Council can have a maximum of nine female members serving a two-year term. Council members are women from across Nunavut and represent diversity of the population. The Council hires an Executive Director who oversees the Council office and assists the Council in fulfilling their mandate.
